K-KANGAROO!

Fever's gone for now. And 3 toilet trips since morning.
My stomach is really upset. Spicy food was too much i guess.
Since I'm really bored here, I shall just post about my bintan trip.

Day 1- 24 November 2008
Awoke and reached school at 6.45 am.
Met few of the OBS people, hope they're doing fine now.
AH JAN and FARAH, I hope you have fun playing on the flying fox. :D
Ferry ride, did I mention that I have a lil' seasickness.
(I just found out!)

On the ferry

Reached the hostel, not too bad.
Placed out baggages down and rushed out nametags for the students before heading to the school. It's a 30minute drive to the school & there's this custom to pass before entering the village.
I didn't expect to see a custom in front of the village.

Traditional welcoming ceremony.
The kids are speaking in bahasa indonesia and I don't understand what the hell they were speaking. Okay, but there's help from mr kelana and mr nur.
Nametags done, Played pass the parcel.

Performance with kids joining from outside the classrooms

Beautiful artwork!

Day 2- 25 November 2008
Awoke in the morning.
Would you believe they had prayers early in the morning at like 4.30 AM!
Sleep disrupted by them and the two roosters sent by mr kelana to wake us up by rattling and creating all sorts of noises.
I swear the television was so loud the whole kampung could have woken up.

Breakfast, arrived at village.
Kids looked super energetic! We continued with our plan - colouring activity.
There were major complications and we had to act according, overall it was okay.
(We've forgotten to bring scissors and flash cards!)

Break, taught them simple english words and learnt a few myself.
Meja - table temang - friends/partner
pepe(?)- cheek alis(?) - eyebrow
ikan - fish burita - octopus
Okay, there's more and erm, I do not know the spelling of the malay words.
I'm just typing them out by my pronounciation okay.

Played 'lao ying zhua xiao ji' Eagle catch chickens?
(direct translation!) Okay, I'm sure if mrs ong sees this I'm going to get a comment on my translation.
Singing and colouring activity again.

Lunch, House visiting.
It's interesting to see the way they live, their house and all.
We were not in season so didn't have a chance to eat those fruits. Had a try at rubber tapping. & I'm deemed violent. I ended up destroying the tree than tapping rubber.
BAD PART! There are swarms of mosquitoes around us. And they all had black and white stipes on them. Super wanted to get out of there ASAP!

Scolding, Reflections.
Then the girls went back to out unit. We slept at around 3plus after eating maggi noddles and playing card games. Trying as much as possible to not wake the teachers up.

day 3 - 25 November 2008
Awoke and seriously LACK OF SLEEP!
Headed to the school and stuck those coloured pictures on the walls.
Teached flashcards and gave out presents.

Pasting of coloured pieces.

Lunchtime. (MY GROUP!)

I didn't mention that I was awfully inspired by the girl with no hands.
She had to go about with a normal lifestyle with the clever use of her legs. & her legs are so flexible. She uses her feet to write, wipe her face and play games.
(SHE'S SUPER POWER LA!)

Their version of five stones is interesting.
I told joey that we just had to find seashells and play it back at singapore.
Singing and competition plus prize presentation.
Then back to pack bags home on the ferry.

Performance Time! (A & B)

Prize presentation.

Farewell.

At the hostel.

It was raining and the ferry was going up and down continuously.
I was all up for vomitting then I closed my eyes and went to sleep. Awoke with a horrible feeling and thanks for the medicated oil.

Lousy image quality D: (my hp front camera)

On ferry back home.

& I am amazed at the fact that the guys actually brought stuffs like wet tissues, mopiko and medicated oil. HAHAHAS!

To end it off,
